Can you share a little about yourself and your background?

I’ve been in the trades for 12 years now. I specialize in window and trim work, both exterior and interior (crown, base, casing and wood flooring). However, I can build pretty much anything. I work in the East Bay of San Francisco.

What was the scope of this project?

This was a Northern California tract house. The clients undertook a complete exterior remodel, including window and siding. The T-111 was replaced with James Hardie siding. The window casing are a custom build-up using Azed PVC trim combining multiple profiles including on-site routing. The eaves of the house were treated with Windsor One beadboard. Of course, the accent Bling are shutters and authentic hardware.

Notice the copper cap on the top of the shutter. Great detail!

The shutters are fully operable, though they likely won’t be used that way.

Tell us about your experience with the shutters and the hardware?

Although not required, the shutters are operable. Though the composite (Extera) shutter serves an economic price point, I’d be inclined to purchase either vinyl or fiberglass. The middle of the road is just that. I’m very picky when it comes to quality. Knowing the pluses and minuses before you make a purchase is the key to long term satisfaction.

That said, “you buy quality once; you buy garbage over and over again.” 360 Yardware’s hardware is well made and very easy to install, and at a good price point.

360 Yardware provided carbon steel Rounded Pintles, Suffolk Style Hinges, as well as shims for this project.
